The comparison

The comparison as Tranzly wrote it.

WPML has been around for years. It is a paid WordPress translation plugin, and its yearly plans bundle a fixed number of AI-translated words. Tranzly costs nothing to install from WordPress.org. It supports unlimited languages and does not count words. You connect your own DeepL or AI account and translate there.

  • Install the no-cost edition and add as many languages as you like. It also handles translated addresses, hreflang and sitemaps.

  • Tranzly sets no word caps. Your translation service bills you directly, so there are no word allowances to buy.

  • Each translated page triggers two extra database queries at most. Tranzly sets no cookie, so your caches carry on working.

  • Tranzly Pro brings in your languages, translations and translated texts from WPML. You can reverse the import.

WPML's strengths

  • Each paid plan comes with a yearly allowance of AI-translated words. You need no separate translation account.

  • WPML runs its own translation engine. It also works with DeepL, Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.

Shared ground
  • Each plugin saves every translation as genuine WordPress content with an address of its own.

  • Each plugin links to machine translation from DeepL, Google and Microsoft.

Differences
  • WPML offers no free version. Tranzly's free edition sits on WordPress.org.

  • WPML's paid plans cover 22,500 or 45,000 AI-translated words, and the Blog plan covers none. Tranzly sets no word limit.

  • AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can translate a site with Tranzly through 73 tools.
